FDE = Full Disk Encryption. A technology that performs encryption on the disk drive at the hardware level. The hard drive contains an ASIC chip that is used to encrypt every bit of data as it is written and also decrypts data as it is being read.

SSD = Solid State Drive .  A data storage device that uses solid-state memory to store persistent data. An SSD emulates a traditional hard disk drive, and thus can easily replace it in most applications.

EDA = Equipment Distribution Area – Your server racks.

HDA = Horizontal Distribution Area – The networking rack at the end of your rows.

MAC = Media Access Control

MAC = Moves, Adds and Changes

MDA = Main Distribution Area – The main core networking area where your core switches reside.  This is the heart of the data center where the arteries of fiber optic and copper cables ultimately flow from.

MTP = Mechanical Transfer Push-on – A high density fiber optic connector type that accomodates typically 12 or more individual fibers in a single connector.

OM1 = standard performance 62.5um multimode fiber

OM2 = standard performance 50um multimode fiber

OM3 = laser-optimized 50um multimode fiber

OM3+ = same as OM3 except rated for 8Gb Fiber Channel at distances beyond 150 meters.

ZDA = Zone Distribution Area – A specified area of equipment in your data center that receives its data cabling from a single source location.
